Best thing to do in the morning

For some reason I keep hearing about or maybe its just hitting me that morning routines are very important. I have seen it on some tv show where they follow the CEO of a company for a day where he spend time every morning (at least the work week mornings) stretching with his wife. When I first saw this I thought it was very different and a good idea and I suppose one of those things I wish I could do.

It seems most mornings I wake up and then start thinking about all the stuff I want to do in the day and how I had better get going. In some ways I thought this was the best way to get the most out of my day. Upon reflecting about it I remember the day that I would wake up at 7:55 am and walk down the hallway to my home office and sit down at my computer desk and get to work. This was no doubt not good for me mentally. I wish I had gotten into the routine of doing something relaxing in the morning…having a good breakfast and maybe even getting outside for an hour before jumping into work. It is no wonder I ended up putting on a lot of weight, drinking lots of coffee and drinking lots of pop. I actually remember going through at least a 2 Litre bottle of pop each day. And it was not good if I didn’t have the pop in the house…I would be running out to the store to get some if I was out.

Now that things have changed a bit…I am usually having a coffee first thing in the morning but am learning to take the morning slow and relax. I am commonly thinking I need to stop drinking coffee in the morning and stick to drinking water but I know I will miss it and go through some caffeine withdrawals. So the smart thing to do is slowly cut back and start drinking more water in the morning.

So back to the morning routine.  I have learned to start the day with a clear head and also have learned I will need a lot of guidance to achieve my goals (which are my dreams, but with a deadline) simply because there is going to be a lot of things in life that will try to get me off my track and on to other peoples.  Part of this lesson for me has been sometimes being in situations and then making a decision that was not a good balanced decision.  And watching Rick Warren videos in the morning has definitely help me to think more clearly and helped me to focus my mind.

For today, I am writing this post after having a couple coffees and relaxing before getting into watching the video.  I have even written this post before watching the video, which is probably not the best….so I will try to only write a post after my morning routine in the future.  This is another one of my goals, where it might seem small, but will probably have a large impact on my life over the long term.  Being as it is a new habit or ritual to get into, I have to admit, it does at times seem a little hard or unnerving because I am dropping my old habits and trying to build a new one.

And I also have to give thanks to my Dad, who is also helping with guidance and reminding me to take things one step at a time.

Day 002 – Stalled? Get motivated, Pouring my energy into this! right now!

Yesterday was supposed to be launch day.  I ended up taking a break and trying to brainstorm with someone which was a good idea (the brainstorming part) part it was with the wrong person because the conversation quickly turned into a practical one AND then turned into them wanting me to make a website for them…and that person did not even want to pay for the website to be built.

If I have learned anything over the last whole lotta years…it is to be very careful when dealing with people who are asking for a lot and try not to pay for it.  Those types of deals are very destructive for both parties and for some reason the goof ball that does not want to pay for the service in the first place will then only keep coming back and trying to get more…for free again.

With this person, they have a habit of not getting along with people and it is clear to me and many other people as to why.  But trying to change that person will only result in frustration and a whole lot of wasted time.

Even the next day, I am still kicking myself a bit for wasting an hour or so having the conversation with hope (even though it was probably a 1% chance) that the person was interested in a win win deal…cause they very rarely ever do that.  Its the weirdest thing to me…but it is what it is and I have to delete it from my brain.

That is about it for my rant about that lol.

On to moving forward and growing myself and my business.  Yesterday I had a bunch of ideas for the market I wanted to enter but was not able to settle on one.  As Ed Dale says in his book, there are different personality types that freeze up when it comes to launch time.  This might be one of the things I freeze up on…or I might have just been looking for a little inspiration in market and couldn’t find it.

I really want to get into a market I love.  However I really just like the whole self improvement and business consulting market now.  And I don’t want to become one of them that promotes and sells how to make money online or how to build your own business without having built and maintained a bunch of my own.

One other thing I like to do is build websites and I have actually had a bunch of people ask me to do them for them.  So I guess I should take this as a sign.

Back to Ed Dales challenge…if I were to pick three markets to enter I suppose the ones I love are:

Online Marketing
Self Improvement
Business Mastery
Building Websites
Social Media Marketing

Now that I have actually listed them out on this blog…I have to admit its a bit of a relief to have them out of my mind and into the internet sphere.  It seems to be a lot better to post this stuff to a blog than talk to many people in person about it, cause most of the time people I know don’t really want to here it s they are preoccupied with their own way of living and doing things.  Which is kind of a bummer…but hey that is life.

Furthermore I have heard it and read it from a bunch of different successful people that we are lucky to have 1 or 2 people in our lives that actually care about our success.  And when it happens that someone becomes involved in my success it is a beautiful thing…and I have to make sure they are rewarded for it as well.

For anyone reading this blog this far… thank you for coming on this journey with me and I hope to be able to provide you with information, tools, inspiration and share my experience with you.  Chances are you could be on a similar journey and we can all benefit from each other.

Now, going back to the market I want to enter, I read over the list again and it definitely gets me a more motivated.  At noon today I have a meeting to attend and I am going to bounce these markets around in my head (and maybe even write them down lol) before the meeting an afterward and then come back to my laptop and see if I am able to narrow down the market into a smaller niche that would be good to enter into.

It is kinda strange how just writing down the markets is like making a decision and already I am having new thoughts about what I could do in each market…its kinda like opening up my mind… or moving forward… or progress.  After reading how this works in Ed Dales book and hearing it in many other places too, I have to say thank you for creating the awareness and helping me to get back on the path of creating something new (even with utilizing old skills) and starting the journey again.

By the way… sometimes when I have some not positive influences trying to take me off my track or bring me down (i have learned to stay away from these people as much as possible, but sometimes it just happens) I have a few different ways of bringing myself back up:

  1.  Calling a good friend or family member that is positive success minded
  2. Watching a motivational video on youtube such as:

I paid a lot of attention to the way I feel and the thoughts I have after spending time with different people and even the stuff i watch and read.  Some things are just really good and it is a daily challenge to not give in to the temptation of something that is not good… keep the negative out of your life and the negative people out of your life and fill it only with the best of the good stuff…whether it be people, tv shows, movies or anything else… only be around and take in the good.

Also…

Have positive short, medium and long term goals.  Stick to your guns in achieving your goals.

And remember most people will not try to help you achieve your goals.  You gotta keep yourself moving forward and not let anyone or anything stop you.

And what ever you do…do it the best you can.

Now I have to take my own advice and focus on narrowing down the market I want to enter, into a niche (cause all the great success advice says this is the way) and just do it.
